It is barely Wednesday morning. The paper has yet to hit newstands and I have just learned of the passing of Jamie Neathery. Jamie was a brave warrior who has battled brain cancer for much of this year. She was a wife, mother, sister and friend to many. Earlier this summer I was fortunate enough to spend time with her and her friends and family as they prepared for a community fundraiser on her behalf. Jamie had a smile that lit up a room, a spirit that transcended her illness and a determination to win. Now, as we all mourn her passing I feel it necessary to recognize that she has won. Her bravery inspired many. Her determination, made us all belief anything was possible. So.... on this Thanksgiving eve, I ask all our readers to take a moment from the rat race we know as life. The troubles which wake us in the middle of the night and remember all we have to be Thankful for. Jamie, never said why me. Her goal was to not go down this way- at the hands of cancer. Now she rests. Her pain and struggle now history, only to leave the rest of us with saddened hearts as we remember her bravery. God Bless you all. My prayers and thoughts are with all that loved her so very much.
